Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital recently announced it has completed China’s first natural pregnancy after cryopreservation and transplantation of ovaries.

近日,北京妇产医院宣布,我国首例卵巢组织冻存移植后成功自然妊娠的患者,目前孕周已经15周。

Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has successfully helped a patient achieve the nation’s first natural pregnancy after cryopreservation and transplantation of ovarian tissue. The patient was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome five years ago. The chemotherapy treatment would have damaged her ovaries , making her lose the chance to be a mother forever. The patient decided to try cryopreservation of ovarian tissue before chemotherapy.

近日,北京妇产医院成功帮助一名患者实现了全国首例卵巢组织冻存移植后自然怀孕。这位病人五年前被诊断为骨髓异常增生综合征。化疗对卵巢功能的损伤是极其严重的,将让她永远丧失做母亲的机会,她决定在化疗前尝试卵组织冻存。

The cryopreservation technology of ovarian tissue is an emerging method of fertility protection.Liu Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, explained:

卵巢组织冻存是目前世界范围内新兴的一种生育力保护方法,北京妇产医院党委书记刘建解释:

Patient’s ovaries may be damaged after chemotherapy. So if the ovarian tissue is healthy, we will take it out and freeze it. After the patient recovers, the ovaries will be transplanted back so that the patient can conceive naturally and give birth.

化疗完,卵巢将来有可能就不孕不育了。我们评估卵巢组织是健康的话,给它取出来冻存,等它病情完全缓解了之后再给它移回去。成功之后,就能自然受孕,生孩子。

In 2020, the number of new cancer patients in China reached more than 4.5 million, and the age of cancer patients tends to be younger. The cryopreservation of ovarian tissue can solve the fertility problem of female cancer patients. Professor Ruan Xiangyan, who brought this technology from Europe to China, said:

Radiotherapy and chemotherapy can cause premature menopause. Some are in their twenties or even in their teens. Menopause increases the probability of women to suffer cardiovascular disease, dementia, and osteoporosis by 2 to 6 times.

很多是年轻的癌症患者,放疗、化疗会导致早绝经。有的只有十几岁就绝经了,有的二十几岁绝经了,更年期使妇女患心血管病、痴呆、骨质疏松和同龄人同比增加2~6倍。

为了保护更多女性的生育能力和内分泌功能,2012年北京妇产医院建立了中国首个人卵巢组织冻存库。填补了国内空白。

Currently, Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital is cooperating with more than 200 hospitals to establish clinical branches. Participating hospitals can transfer ovarian tissues to the cryopreservation center within 24 hours. Their medical technology will benefit patients across the country.

目前北京妇产医院在全国培训了200多家医院,建立了临床取材点,进行规范化取材后24小时内转运到北京妇产医院冻存库,惠及全国患者。
